The new Moncalisse winery rises on the slopes of Monte Calisio (Trento), commissioned by sisters Julia and Karoline Walch of the historic Elena Walch winemaking family from Alto Adige. The project is designed by South Tyrolean architect David Stuflesser together with Nadia Moroder (STUFLESSER MORODER), featuring sinuous lines evoking an attempt to reach toward the sky. The building is characterized by circular forms and dry-stone walls recalling the ancient "coppelle" — rock carvings typical of the Ferro area — using natural materials such as rough-hewn white limestone and local porphyry.
